Premium Inconel® 601 Laboratory Crucibles
Inconel® 601 crucibles provide a highly durable and economical alternative to traditional platinum labware for rigorous, high-temperature applications. Manufactured from a robust nickel-chromium-iron alloy, these crucibles are designed for continuous utility in demanding thermal processing, ashing, and analytical environments.

Exceptional Thermal & Mechanical Stability
Inconel® 601 boasts outstanding resistance to oxidation and spalling, specifically in extreme temperature ranges of 1000°C to 1200°C. Unlike other materials, this alloy is completely unaffected by rapid thermal cycling from hot to cold, making it highly resistant to thermal shock. Because of the inherent mechanical strength of the material at elevated temperatures, these crucibles do not require the reinforced rims or thickened bottoms typically necessary with platinum, ensuring uniform heating across the entire vessel.
Chemical Resistance Profile
The high nickel content provides superior resistance to reducing environments, while the substantial chromium content protects against oxidizing conditions.
- Excellent Resistance: Nitric acid, low concentrations of phosphoric acid, and sodium hydroxide solutions (up to 98% concentration).
- Not Recommended For: Strong alkaline or oxidizing fusions, as well as sulfuric, hydrochloric, and hydrofluoric acids.
Ideal Analytical Applications
These crucibles are exceptionally well-suited for determining moisture, volatiles, fixed-carbon, and ash content in coal, coke products, wood pulp, and fiber. They are also highly recommended for drying and ashing biological materials where residues can be dissolved in dilute acid or alkali for subsequent analysis (excluding trace-level determinations of principal constituent elements).
Care and Maintenance
Maintaining your Inconel® crucibles is simple and cost-effective. Smoothing or reshaping the vessel after repeated high-temperature use is completely unnecessary. For cleaning, the crucibles can simply be scoured with sea-sand or a mild abrasive to remove residual ash and carbon.
